We are a Christian school that is firmly rooted in our community, as such we feel that we know our families and children so well that the education we provide them is very much tailored to suit their needs and allow them to flourish. The children are at the heart of everything we do and we are dedicated to providing the best education that we can along with developing the whole child through a wealth of experiences and wide-ranging opportunities.
A key aspect of our school, and one that sets us apart from the rest, is our location and modern facilities which are based in rural Pilling, with our site consisting of a Forest School, specific age appropriate outdoor areas and set in a beautiful rural area.
Our practice and provision is high quality with the ethos of high expectations and delivering outstanding provision. We are a Lead Foundation Stage School and work in collaboration with the Local Authority Early Years Team and Red Rose Letters and Sounds. We are staffed by a Lead Foundation Teacher and Red Rose Letters and Sounds Lead teacher for Early Reading (please see our Vlog here to get more information).
We are excited to share with you that we are expanding our Nursery provision and we will be providing care for 0-2 year olds. We are renovating School House and this will be the new home for our 0-2 and 2 year old provision. More to follow...
Early Literacy Consultant Clare Cherry talks in detail about the importance of young children securing phonological and phonemic awareness and how it paves the way into later stages of phonic development. This VLOG also showcases the delivery and impact of the Red Rose Communication, Language and Literacy Phonological Awareness- Phase 1 publication at Pilling St John's.
Our Learning Environment
We pride ourselves on providing a stimulating and inspiring environment for our pupils to access in order for them to develop and thrive, here are some examples.
Children access our Forest School on a weekly basis where they access the outdoors to support and inspire their learning, exposing them to a range of opportunities for holistic growth. These experiences supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting.
