When it is used
School closures: When a school must close temporarily due to factors like adverse weather or high staff absence.
Individual pupil absence: For a pupil who is well enough to continue learning but cannot attend school temporarily, such as recovering from a short-term illness, operation, or injury.
Exceptional cases: In some cases, remote learning may be provided for individual pupils whose attendance is affected by a special educational need or disability (SEND) or mental health issue, as part of a plan to help them reintegrate.
How it is provided
Online platforms: Google Classroom will be used for delivering work and communicating with pupils.
Recorded and live lessons: If appropriate, we may use pre-recorded lessons from teachers or online resources.
Work packs: Teachers may prepare and send home printed work packs, workbooks, and worksheets for pupils to complete.
Support materials: Remote learning can also involve using reading books, commercially available websites, or video clips that support specific subjects.
Parent and pupil roles
Daily tasks: Pupils are expected to complete tasks set by the teachers during the school day.
Communication: Parents and pupils should be in contact with teachers for any help needed and follow the school's protocols for interactive sessions.
Feedback: Completed work may be uploaded for the teacher to review and provide feedback - dependant on the task..
Partnership: Effective remote education relies on the school, parents, and the child working together in partnership.
