We believe that uniform, can play a key role in:
promoting the ethos of our school
providing a sense of belonging and identity
setting an appropriate tone for education
By creating a common identity among all pupils, regardless of background, a uniform can:
act as a social leveller
reduce bullying and peer pressure to wear the latest fashions or other expensive clothes
The statutory guidance contains draft sections to support schools to adhere to the proposed limit on the number of branded items of school uniform and PE kit that schools can require. The government intends to make this a legal requirement from September 2026 through the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill. The draft statutory guidance will be updated on completion of the Bill’s passage through Parliament.
